Silvia Trejo

Silvia is one of the first 2 women who started attending the church. She has been so faithful and committed to her walk and journey with Christ. She is now a light to this dark world around her. After a long and hard decision, she decided to get baptized this May. Even though we know she has been a Christ follower for over 2 years now, it was super special to see her take that leap of faith to show the world her commitment to Christ by public baptism.
Listen to Silvia's testimony and again rejoice for her life and for the fact that God is still changing lives today!

New Life

I am really learning to love New Life. It is the goal of our job and it has also carried over into my personal life. I have loved watching my dear friends give birth to new life. God is all about the life business. He gives us our life in the womb, our first breath and a chance to follow and serve Him for eternal life. What an amazing God we serve.

Our dear friends and co-workers J.P and Alicia Mayfield had their new baby boy. If you don't already follow her blog you should check out this quick slide show. We are so proud of them both and we rejoice for the new life they have been given to love and raise for Christ. May Sawyer do great things for HIS kingdom.

Here is the video of Yuri's baptism.

Again, rejoice with us for the new life Yuri now has.

Our Crop

Well we didn't make it before July 4th but we finally have a harvest. These plants have been growing like crazy. This has been a roller coaster of a journey. We have lost a few plants and gained a few that we didn't know we planted :) But overall it has been fun and now we have another fresh veggie option in the house.

Btw: the only plants that survived were cherry tomatoes.

But they sure do taste good!!

We have officially decided we are neither professional gardeners!!

College Trip

A day after the sports team left the college team arrived. This was a group of 11 students and adults from Second's college ministry The Vine. The goal of this trip was to meet and build relationships with college students here in P.V. We headed to a local college campus and set the student free to meet people. They did a great job and stretched themselves out of their comfort zones. We were also able to meet an English teacher who invited us to come have conversation with his students. It was a huge open door for the students to have one on one time with a student from P.V. There were tons of awesome conversations had during those times. Our students shared their faith boldly.

During the evening we held Cafes for the people we met. The turn out wasn't as big as we would have hoped. We didn't feel it was a complete failure but we already know some things we want to change and try again. Part of this journey is learning how to reach this city.
The key being: Learn!

Check out the video that Preston made.
*I did not give my consent to use the video where I am singing. I am going to kill him!

Thanks for all your prayers for this trip. We really felt God used each student from Second to share His love and truth. Students, you did an amazing job! You did everything we asked of you and more. Thanks for being a light on the campus here. We pray you will do the same on your campuses back home! We love you all.

Sports Camps

In July we hosted 18 men and women from Second to hold baseball and basketball camps in a local neighborhood park. This year the Lord really guided where the camps would be held. After our original plans fell through we learned the hard way that HIS plans are bigger and better.

We were able to have the camps right beside each other which was nice for everyone.
The baseball camp grew and grew each day. By the end of the week we had over 40 kids!! It was quite the group of boys.

At basketball they had 30 signed up not everyone would come at the same time. They had about 15-20 regulars.

The last night of camp we hosted a huge BBQ for the 50 kids and their parents. Around 10 sets of parents came and Preston and I were able to go around and meet the parents and talk with them about the church.

We really felt like this year was quality on the camps. We were able to connect more with the kids and continue building relationships with some from the past. We are now praying on how to follow up with all these parents and kids that we met. Continue to pray for the faces you see and for this neighborhood as we begin to think about how we can reach it for HIM.

HERE is the Sports Camp Video (thanks Preston!)

Thanks to everyone who prayed for these camps. We did not have rain one camp time. Now, it was HOT but at least we didn't have rain :) A special thanks to everyone who came down and sweat for His glory and for His kingdom. We couldn't have done that week without each and every one of you. We love you all.

10K

On May 31, 2009 Puerto Vallarta held a 10K. Susan B. was coming down and she suggested that her and Allie run in the race (except she thought it was going to be a 5K)(we surprised them after they arrived :) Preston has been running every week for a while now and decided that he too would sign up for the race.
The race took place right down the main street of P.V. Yes, they did close the streets :) It was beautiful scenery with the palm trees and the occasion view of the ocean. Even though the race started at 8:00 am, it was still Mexico hot!

Rhonda, Catherine and I drove along side them and stopped every now and then to give them water. We were cheering them on as we were so proud of them. They all did amazing!

I was SO proud of Preston. I was trying not to tear up when he crossed the finish line. Even after all the trash talk, he did finish before Allie and Susan. He didn't win for his age group but he won first place in my heart!! Preston finish in 48 minutes.

Allie did an amazing job. This was her first long distance race. She finished 1st for her age group and even won a trophy!

Susan did awesome as well. When she signed up she thought she was running a 5K and she stuck it out and did double of what she thought she could. She is the type of woman that can do anything she sets her mind to!

They each did a great job and I have so much respect for them! Great job guys!!!
