When Preston and I were home in January, I bought a can of cherry pie filling.
It is one of the things I can't find here yet so I thought it would be a special treat one day to have a homemade cherry pie.
Well today WAS going to be the lucky day. I first got out my cherry pie filling, then I got out my Crisco (which was also bought at home). I opened the lid to find....my favorite part of Mexico....ants. They were just around the lid and on the top so I picked them out and put the Crisco in the fridge. I tried to get my mind off that and went for the flour. I opened the flour and started to measure out a 1/2 cup when I noticed something black in the cup and it was still moving. Yep a bug...and then I looked into the canister and saw yet another one. I shut the lid with a gross feeling in my stomach. I have since put the flour in the trash and now the cherry pie filling is back in the pantry.
Maybe I will try again another day :)
There will be days like this my momma said.
We want to try to keep family, friends and everyone who has come down on a team updated about what is going on. Keep praying because the Lord is on the move here in Puerto Vallarta!!

Our Week
We have been staying busy but we don't have much to blog about. I thought I would give you guys an idea of what we did this past week.
Monday:
Courtney: Laundry and deep cleaned the bathroom
Preston: Studied for and wrote sermon
Preston had a basketball game
Tuesday: Preston finished and typed sermon
Preston had basketball practice
P and C went over to follow up with baseball boys
(while we were there we met a new young man with two kids. His name is Alex)
Wednesday: Preston researched materials to disciple Cesar for the future
Preston had basketball practice
Courtney spent the whole day organizing all the craft supplies and making shelf space for all the leftovers from the summer trips
Thursday: Preston had basketball practice
Courtney did more laundry (aka basketball jersey and practice clothes)
Then we had people here for Bible study from 6:30-10:00 pm
Friday: Went to play basketball with the kids from basketball camp.
Preston had a another game. (I, Courtney, am making really good friends with one of the player's girlfriend. Her name is Elia)
Saturday: R & R
Courtney is scrapbooking
Preston is making a video and playing on his computer
Sunday: Watch morning church @ Second
Get ready for church here
Open our doors at 5:00
Church @ 6
This doesn't seem like much but this is on top of normal household chores, reading our Bibles, spending time with the Lord, emails, and exercising.
Courtney read a book this week by Rob Bell titled Sex God (it is a really challenging book on intimacy with God)
Preston has also been working all week on a video for our Alaska pictures.
Other spare time: aka. evenings: talking on the phone with family, watching the Olympics and watching Survivor (old episodes)
Many people ask what a normal week looks like for us.....there you have it!
Obviously we know we are not nearly as busy as many of you are. Our life here is very stress free but it has it's own different sets of challenges.
We love you all and are praying for you!

Erika's Birthday Party

Friday 08-08-08 was Erika's birthday. But she had a party on Saturday night. The party was held at her new house that she bought. She is still living with her parents but she bought this house as an investment. It was fun to see her new house and spend time celebrating her birthday with her.
There was music, tacos, friends and fellowship.

It was a beautiful night. The air was fresh and "cool". The moon was beautiful in the sky. I tried to get a good picture of it

Happy Birthday Erika!!!

New Basketball Season
Well the MBA (mexican basketball association) is back!! Preston is still playing with the same team but they definitely have a new look. Not only have they picked up 7 more players but they also have new jerseys. Preston is no longer #5 in a red jersey, but #54 in a baby blue jersey!
Friday Preston played in a great game. The won hands down but you would hope they could because there were 13 of them against a team of 4! The team of 4 pulled a random guy out of the audience to make a team of 5!

The great thing about this game was the fact that Preston had lots of fans. Preston called and invited the kids from the basketball camp to come. 5 kids from the camp came to watch and 2 parents came with them. Cesar was there watching and so were Leon and Cindy. He had quite the fan club.

We are actually headed to the courts again tonight for a game at 7:00

Company
We had some great company and fellowship this past week.
The Gregstons!
This is a very sweet couple from our church who comes down here from time to time to just hang out with us and be a blessing to us. We usually end up talking for hours, going out to eat, eating ice cream and talking for hours. We love our time we have with them. This visit I finally took a few pictures.
Here are several crabs we saw feeding on some rocks.
Last night we went out to eat in the Marina. It was as beautiful as ever. We were sitting outside in a little open air restaurant when a light shower started to come down. It was gorgeous and so enjoyable to sit in God's beauty. Then the sun came out, so we were even able to enjoy one of His promises....a rainbow! It was a great last night together before we said goodbye to the Gregstons.
