Preston's first cake/ New life!!

We are excited to announce the birth of Erika's niece
Dana Valentina
.
Last weekend we went to visit the new baby and the family. We made a cake for the family as well. Preston was probing around as to how I was going to decorate the cake and so on. So I finally asked him...."Preston, do you want to decorate the cake?"
Response: "Well I would like to try someday. It doesn't have to be today though"
Me: Why not today...there is no pressure!

So he did! I was so proud of my little cake decorator. He did a great job and has officially earned the right to be our family cake decorator! Great job Preston!!

Holding a newborn is always a beautiful reminder of the miracle of life. It also really made me think about my friends who are getting ready to have one of these!! Crazy!!

Our new spot

Preston and I found this new little spot by chance. It was one of those miserable days where we lost internet and we had to fill out our March Madness brackets so we headed up to the Plaza. We were going to Starbucks but it was jammed packed and there wasn't even a seat available. So we found a bench and just used the Wifi of the Plaza. After our quick internet fill we were going to head back home and I spotted it...Italian Ice cream....aka Gelato. I didn't have my hopes too high but I thought it might cheer us up.

We both ordered cookies and cream. It was heavenly! The best ice cream I've had in MX. Now to Betsy and others who have experiences the real gelato. It wasn't Italy but it was smooth and tasty. I am convinced that you can only find real gelato in Italy. Anyway, I think we have created a monster in us. We decided that cone was so good that we went back the next Friday as a date. My mouth kept telling me to get cookies and cream but I am so predictable and I am getting tired of it. So I told Preston that I am going to try all the flavors! He agreed to the challenge and together we are going to conquer our quest! We must admit we have been back yet again. So we have already tried
*cookies and cream
*coconut
*hazelnut
*tiramisu
*berry

They have all been absolutely delicious and it has been so refreshing trying new flavors. Now every time we go we place all the flavors in our favorite order. After we have finished our quest I will have to give you the final results...best to worst flavors :)

Just know next time you come to visit you will have to try our Mexican Italian Ice Cream!!

Retreat

Yes, I am still blogging about our trip home. There was SO much that happened.

While we were home we had a retreat with JD and our co-workers. We had a blast!! It was not only a good time to be refreshed and think about the year a head but we also had a blast!

We stayed at this amazing cabin in Branson. We shared a huge room that had 2 bedrooms, a kitchen and a living room with our dear friends JP and Alicia. We went to the Landing, out to eat, shopping and of course....Rock Band (thanks Jason).

Oh yeah, the missions staff knows how to rock n' roll too :)

It was sure nice to have this time with our dearest friends and fellow workers. It is one of the highlights that gets us through the year!

Women's Trip

Wow! What a great trip we just had with 7 awesome women from Second. They were here for a week hosting nights for women in our home. We did all kinds of crafts, cooking classes and life classes. It was so cool to see God at work all week.

There were 41 different women who came through the house and one night we had 29 women plus kids!! It was a crazy and crowded night! But overall the week was amazing.

Here are a few cool pictures and things I wanted to share.
There were several gals in the church here who were leading throughout the week.
Yuri taught a cooking class

Paty (in green shirt) taught a craft

Erika and Silvia both taught a life application class

A life class

Erika teaching

Silvia teaching

Silvia Mag. came everyday to help in whatever way she could. She was an amazing help to us all week.
and she also taught a cooking class!
Now the ladies from Second...
Ellen lead a life class

So did Nancy

Carla taught cake decorating

Pam was our amazing craft instructor

Paula worked the front door and sign in table

Carolyn was working the kitchen to serve the women

Coni taught a cooking class

Everyone was always willing to step up and do whatever needed to be done. At any given point we were helping with crafts, serving drinks and building relationships with the women of P.V.

This year we passed out fliers at the bus stops near the house. I think it worked really well.

It was an amazing week and we are already seeing some of the fruit from our labor.

*Ladies thank you so much for all your hard work. It was a great week and we look forward to seeing how God is going to use and bless your efforts down here. We sure do love you all.

Pedicures!

Before Betsy's wedding she treated us to pedicures!
How awesome is that!

Here is the bride to be putting her make-up on so we can take a picture :)

I still have my toes painted and I remember my friends and that special time we had together every time I put on my flip flops.

That was fun girls...we need to do it again soon.

Winter Wonderland

We wanted our friends here in Mexico to see the snow and ice we were greeted with while in Missouri.
We sure don't miss that!!
