P & C's thoughts on the Pig Flu

We have been receiving lots of emails about this pig flu, so we are posting a blog to give all the answers to your questions...

Do we have the pig flu? No
Do we know anyone who has the flu? No
Is there a flu spreading in Mexico? Yes
How far are we from Mexico City? 13 hours by car
What precautions are we taking? None, we are living our normal life.

I am trying to walk on eggshells with this post. We are not a media friendly household. Our major source of news is MLB.com. Our other source is a daily text message that we receive here in Mexico to let us know the major things that are happening without all the political and overdone details. We try to keep our lives informed but naive to the "news".

Yes, school has been canceled even here in P.V. BUT, school was already going to be canceled May 1-May 5 for holidays. So, they really only tacked on a few extra days, and if you ask me it is a smart and great precautionary step.

Are we wearing masks in public? From the picture it would appear like the answer is yes. But indeed we are not. There are some people who are wearing masks. We will if the government advices everyone to do so. I think it is great people are wearing masks especially the workers who come in contact with 100's of people in a day.

Do we wash our hands? Yes, we are still washing our hands all the time with soap and hot water.

Are we going to get the pig flu? We don't know that answer. We do know that if this is going to take our lives we don't want to be sitting around reading about it and watching about it. We want to continue on and live our normal lives.

What will we do if we feel flu like symptoms? We are going to lay in bed and tough it out.....just kidding! We will head straight to our 5 star hospital, and they will treat us there.

Well, I think I have covered all the questions you might have. We really do appreciate all your prayers and thoughts. We do NOT, however, except worries in this household. We know God is still in control of all of this.

Oh yeah, Courtney does still wear her mask..... when she has to sweep up the daily mountains of dust! There is probably more danger in clogging her sinuses than getting the pig flu :)

International Fireworks Week

This last week was an international firework festival here in P.V. Let's just say the city was booming with excitement!!
Several of the shows were held at the basketball courts and the track, which is very close to our house. We must admit we went to the roof a few times to watch the shows. It was better to see them instead of only listen to them!

The Lord's Supper

Sunday was our first Lord's Supper as a family here in P.V
It was a memorable time. We took the whole hour service to think
and reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus.

It was great to remember our Lord through the bread and the cup.
I can't wait to sit at His table with Him someday and actually get to chat with Him. What a day that will be!!

4 years ago we were waiting and praying in the hospital for our nephew to arrive safe and sound.

He did and here we are four years later wondering where the time went?

Our nephew is growing up and there is nothing we can do to stop it!

The goal is July 4th

I was chatting with my good friend Denise a few weeks ago and she was asking me about my yard and my plants. It has been a while since I have talked about my plants. There is a good reason for that....I don't have many left! The killer ants have eaten them all and I have surrendered to the ants. These killer ants come out around dusk and devour a whole bush over night. I have tried everything so please don't send me your home remedies. I have tried them all and I have given up. They don't seem to eat palm plants so I might pull up my whole yard and plant all palms :)
Anyway, after sharing all this with Denise she told me about this article she had just read in Better Homes & Gardens. It was about planting a Garden in Pots. I had never thought about that! What a brilliant idea. This way I can put the plants out in the sun for their 6 hours and then pull them in before the vicious ants attack them!!
So, we headed straight to Home Depot to start our garden. For now we have planted: cherry tomatoes, green peppers, basil, green onions and oregano. We are super duper excited because we already have plants!! I was waiting to do a post to make sure our seeds germinated correctly :)

We are sad to inform you that oregano has not sprouted yet. Maybe it will or maybe we will have to try again. We are having such a good time with our new garden. My Dad tells me the goal is to have tomatoes by the 4th of July. We will see if we can do it!!
