Our Sisters from Broadview Baptist

Two women came down here to work for a week. They came from Broadview Baptist Church from Broadview, Illinois. Sister Lynne had been down here before and this was Teresa's first time. We had a great time with these two.

We did many different things. They were able to see more of our day to day life. They went with us to all the Bible studies for the week. We went out and did distributions in the mornings and in the afternoons. We hosted a card night here at the house on my birthday and we hosted a card making night at the Center that we went to in June.
*This was a follow-up to the Mother/Daughter trip. We were able to reconnect with the director out there and continue to build relationships with the women and children out there. We had a lot more kids this time but you might see some familiar faces!

It looked like it was going to rain so we did the card making in a room. Here is the room when we started....

Now check it out!! It was crowded and hot!

We are so grateful for all the hard work Lynne and Teresa did. They were such a joy to be around. We were definitely encouraged by them and all they were able to do for the Lord while serving here in P.V. Thanks to our dear sweet sisters and friends!!

Happy Birthday to ME!

I had a wonderful birthday this year. There were two women from Broadview Baptist here working with us. It was fun to have them here to celebrate with.

First Preston woke me up with breakfast in bed...so sweet. He also had made me a beautiful card.

We went to Chili's for an amazing lunch!!

My favorite part of Chili's is the view. I always pick the same table and enjoy the view!

Then, that evening we had a card making night here at the house. It was for the women of the church and any of their friends. Erika and Yuri showed up with a cake and Silvia with flowers. They are such good friends to me.

Here is everyone singing Happy Birthday to me....good times :)

I did receive several gifts and calls from home. Thanks everyone for the cards, e-cards, phone calls and gifts. You are all so sweet! Even though I was far away from family and friends it was neat to see how God made my day so special with my friends here! Can you believe I am 27!!

The Birthday Queen!

Today is Courtney's birthday. She is absolutely the love of my life. I know that for those of you who read the blog she has blessed your life as well. She has encouraged me in my walk with the Lord and continually challenged me to be a Godlier man. I always love her advice because I know she will not always tell me what I want to hear but the truth as she understands it from the scriptures. She has an amazing walk with the Lord. Her passion for Jesus has transformed her into the most beautiful woman in the world. This is a day worth celebrating because the Lord brought her into our lives as a most awesome blessing. I love you Court. I hope you have a wonderful day.

We went out to eat at this really nice restaurant called Cafe des Artistes here are some photos from an online site of the restaurant.

We had a great meal and wonderful fellowship with them.

Then we went to the movies and watched Mama Mia. It was great!!

It was fun to have friends to hang out with and enjoy the little things in life together.

Critters

All summer we kept telling people about our iguanas. We have 3 iguanas that hang around the house. (outside of course) We have named 2 of them. One is Moses, and the other is Stubby. We don't have a name for the other one...and I don't really know why.

Anyway, while the teams are here the iguanas disappear. So, just so you guys don't think we are crazy and talking about nonexistent iguanas, we have been trying to get a picture of them. It is becoming quiet the challenge!!

This is the large one with no name. This was going to be a great picture but he was running too fast.

Where is the iguana...can you find him?
Hint...look near the white dot.

Preston wanted to show the ants again this year. This year they are carrying a moth up the wall.

We promise we are NOT bored. Just fascinated by all our critters :)

Church Sign

Well we finally had a church sign made for the house. We had been putting out the one Preston built out of wood. But with all the rain the wood was starting to rot and the poster board I painted was just not holding up. So we had the church vote on the words they wanted on the sign. Here it is....
It says: The Hope of Vallarta
"A community of believers"
Do you feel like you can't find a purpose for your life?
Here you will find the plan God has for you.
Come!
Call quickly and then our numbers

Tonight at church we had two new people. Octavio came (he is the new guy who is attending the Bible study on Monday nights at Silvia's house.) Also Octavio brought his sister Mora.

Here is a picture of the church under our new sign. Erika and Yuri were not here tonight because it was raining too hard and their car wouldn't pass through part of the road/river.

From left to right: Sergio, Silvia, Silvia Mag., Preston Elizabeth, Cesar, Octavio and Mora

Then one with me!

Please be praying for the faces you see. Really be praying for the two new people. Pray they will continue to come and find Christ for themselves.
We love you all!

Starbucks Saturday

Preston and I love to spend our Saturday afternoon at Starbucks.
We head up to the plaza Starbucks around 2:00. There is usually nobody there at that time. We order our frappuccinos and pick a table outside. There is normally a breeze that comes off the ocean and keeps it cool. The plaza is always so calm and with ocean on one side and the mountains on the other it is breathtaking. We drink our frappuccinos and play cards. We usually play Canasta. We can spend several hours up there. It is our time to "escape" and be with each other.

This Saturday we were able to have a Starbucks Saturday and then I was able to come home and have a Scrap night. I am getting so caught up on my scrapbook. I am already working on last Christmas. All this to say...we had a great weekend.

We hope everyone enjoyed their labor day weekend!!
