Uncle Scott

Earlier I had informed everyone about the passing of my Uncle Scott. He was my mom's half brother. Today my family is gathered together for his memorial service. Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of an amazing man.

Here are the words from his obituary
DAVID SCOTT TIPLING Scott was born on June 3, 1969, in Kansas City, MO., and died peacefully in his sleep, on December 2, 2008 in Kansas City, KS. He attended school in several towns and graduated from high school in 1987, at Rich Hill, Missouri. During those earlier years, Scott came to know many people from all walks of life. He never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went. He was especially kind to older adults and would go around the neighborhood, and check on them and their health. Scott had a deep love for his family and was always there when they needed him. Scott loved to fish and could catch them when nobody else was having any luck. After high school graduation, Scott went to work for National Art Supply. Some years later, he graduated from Barbering School and became a barber in the Kansas City area, and had been at Southwest Barber Shop in Waldo for the past several years. Scott's mother, Ruby Tipling, preceded him in death in November, 2004. He leaves in this world his father, James Tipling and step-mother, Martha Tipling, a sister, Andrea Foulkes, two half-sisters, Margo Shull and Terry Malesky, and two step-sisters, Misty McGraw and Stormy Moore, as well as, his brother-in-laws, six nephews, one niece, and many other family members that will miss him greatly. Because of his desire to be friends with everyone he met, there will be many people who miss his cheerful greetings and sincere desire to please them. My Uncle was such a cheerful man. He always had a smile on his face and wanted to make everyone laugh and feel wanted. He was always thinking about others above himself. I will miss him calling me Courtie and telling me I am his favorite niece (it's not as fun when you know you are the only one :) But I knew I was his favorite and I always used to tell him that he was my favorite uncle even though I had several. And He will always be my favorite uncle!!


Uncle Scott was known for random phone calls. He would call us up for no reason just to say hi and that he loved us. He knew I liked Tom Petty and every time he heard a Tom Petty song on the radio he would call to tell me he was thinking of me. When uncle Scott first met Preston he didn't know what to think! He pulled me over afterwords and told me he didn't know if Preston was fake. I assured him that Preston is always this happy, positive and full of energy. He then informed Preston and I that Preston should be a politician and run for office!!


My Uncle Scott died on December 2, 2008. He lived 39 short years. The Bible is true when it talks about our life being a short mist a vapor in the wind. I see this for sure in my Uncle's passing. I know he was proud of me and I know he loved me. He used to tell me about talking to his clients at work about me. I know my life has been forever changed by my Uncle Scott. His love was a pure love and just like his obituary said....he would have done Anything for me. I hope he knows I felt the same. Thanksgiving evening I felt the Lord telling me to call my Uncle. So I picked up the phone and dialed his number. I was able to talk with him and my Aunt Andrea. I was able to tell him one last time that I loved him. When I heard he died a few short days later I immediately began thanking God for that chance He gave me to say good-bye. I am thankful for the prompting to call him and I am thankful for being able to share those last few moments together. ALL my memories of Uncle Scott are great ones. I sure will miss him!!

Beginning to look a lot like Christmas

We have been going from one thing to the next lately. Which, I am sure you are as well. It is just that time of year I guess. On top of being busy we have been having internet problems. But we are back up and running today so I thought I better do a post while I can. So it is our tree!!

For those of you who don't remember last year's tree you can get a refresher here.
This year we did the unthinkable for the Malesky family. We bought a fake tree!! But I actually really like it. Check it out.

Thanks to our families and Dallas & Heather we even have gifts from home under the tree!!

So, we are still living in 80* weather but in one corner of our house it feels like Christmas. We have been listening to the Wind88.3 online. We found some coffee creamers from home and we sit by the tree, drink coffee and listen to the Christmas carols. It has been a nice change of pace :)

We hope as your Christmas approaches that you stop to take a moment to be thankful for the little things we have in life (and the big ones). May you all have a very Merry Christmas.

Uncle Scott

It has been a hard few weeks for the Malesky/Goings family. We just found out Friday that my uncle Scott was found dead in his apartment in KC. This is a shock to our whole family. He was only 40 years old. He did die from natural causes. They are working out all the details and I am sure there will be more information to come. I just wanted to let you guys know so you could be praying for my family as we deal with the loss of this dear family member.

PaPa

Well I am a little far behind in the current events happening in our lives. But it is never too late...right?

Today I wanted to honor my great-grandpa. He just passed away a few weeks ago. Here was the information from the online obituary.


— LESLIE EARL INGRAM, 95, of Piggott died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, in Piggott Community Hospital. Papa was born July 30, 1913

Survivors include his wife, Nevada Ingram of Piggott; three daughters, Anna Lindamood of Hendersonville, N.C., Barbara Tipling of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Janet Smith of Dyersburg; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; brother, Ethridge Ingram; and sister, Pauline White.

I don't have many memories of my PaPa but the ones I do all are good. He was a gentle man who was fun to be around. He was a hard worker and loved his garden. I remember he always was smiling and liked to make others smile. He and my great grandmother had been married 76 years. They married September 18, 1932. It is neat to see how many family members he leaves behind. My mom is one of the grandkids, my brother and I are two of the great-grandkids and he still leaves a brother, a sister and a wife. I hope I have that healthy family blood running through my veins!!

Sorry this is late but I did love my PaPa and I hope to see him again in heaven some day. I know it was an honor to know and love my great grandfather. I thank God for the chance to know him and that I have great memories of him. I am thankful he was able to have a long and happy life as well.

Thanksgiving 2008

This Thanksgiving we were here in P.V. Since Thanksgiving is a Thursday and we have church Thursday evening we decided to celebrate Thanksgiving on Friday.

Thursday we went to a local buffet hoping to find some traditional T-day food. We got our hopes a little too high :) They had tried to make some traditional food but it was just not the same. We had fun though.

Friday we had our meal in the late afternoon. Preston wanted to run to a store downtown that has lots of imported stuff. He returned home with a sack of stuff!!
Stove top, cranberry sauce, and coffee creamers. Even though he paid import prices they were all SO worth it!


We hope all of you had a blessed Thanksgiving day. Our prayer is that each person would cherish and not take for granted their families during this season. We are so thankful for our families and we look forward to the next time we get to see them. We truly did miss seeing them this year.

We are also so thankful for each person who supports us and the work here in P.V. We know the work is not possible here without the support!!

Friends Come to Visit

Preston's best Friend Dallas came to visit us a few weeks ago. We had such a blast with him and his wife Heather and their little boy, Noah.

We swam in the pool, went to the beach, the boys went on a hike, the girls had lots of time to chat, we watched "Over the Hedge" everyday, we took strolls downtown, we went to the park, out to eat and more!

Having the toddler in the house kept Preston and I on our toes. We were tired, and we didn't even do anything compared to the parents!! It is a different life with a little one around. But just to see him smile and experience life was worth it.
